Hydroelectric Power
The idea of using water for our human benefit isn't new, 6,000 years ago the Greeks developed irrigation and water clocks, one of the oldest measuring instruments. We thank the Romans for creating the watermill technology still being used today but there is written evidence in Greece of them being used in 240 BC. Water was probably the first renewable energy and it's the most sustainable.
Even today Hydroelectricity produces 55% more power than Nuclear and more than Solar, Wind, Geothermal and Bioenergies combined. Hydropower is the best option to solve the energy and climate crisis.
We have located 6 sites in Weardale where Hydroelectric power plants can be installed, identified by using HydroBot a remote surveying system the potential site's had full feasibility studies carried out to confirm the accuracy of the data and to allow an independent assessment of expected productivity numbers.
With your support we can raise the funding needed to take the step in achieving our plan.
Hydro power, also known as hydropower, is a renewable energy source that harnesses the power of flowing water to generate electricity. It's a clean and sustainable energy source that doesn't produce greenhouse gas emissions, making it an important part of the global effort to combat climate change.
Hydro power has many benefits as a renewable energy source. Here are some of the key advantages:
It's renewable: Water is a renewable resource, so hydro power can be sustained indefinitely as long as the water source is maintained.
It's clean: Hydro power doesn't produce any greenhouse gas emissions, making it a clean and sustainable energy source.
It's flexible: Hydro power plants can be started up and shut down quickly, making them ideal for balancing the electricity grid during times of peak demand.
It's reliable: Hydro power plants can operate continuously, providing a reliable source of electricity.
It's cost-effective: Once the infrastructure is in place, hydro power can be a cost-effective source of electricity, with low operating costs.
Hydro power is a clean and renewable energy source that has many benefits for the environment and the economy. It has the potential to play an important role in the transition to a more sustainable energy system, but it also presents some challenges that need to be carefully considered. As we continue to explore new ways to generate electricity, hydro power will remain an important part of the mix.
